Pace
Traffic and Parking Study, Arlington Heights, Chicago, IL
Regina
Webster & Associates is a subconsultant to Graef, Anhalt,
Schloemer to provide a traffic impact study for proposed new
headquarters for the Pace Transit System. The new building will be
constructed on the current site, which is located on Algonquin Road
between Golf Road and Arlington Heights Road in the Village of
Arlington Heights. The purpose of the study is to determine whether
traffic on Algonquin Road will be adversely impacted by the change
in the building location and any modifications to the access drive.
The study also addresses access, parking and circulation needs for
the new building. RWA is using Jamar Trax counters to collect
driveway traffic volumes on the existing access drive, and using Nu-Metrics
Hi-Star counters to collect 24-hour traffic volume counts on
Algonquin Road at the drive intersection. Turning-movement volume
counts are being taken during AM and PM peak hours at the same
location. RWA is also performing an existing parking occupancy
study. RWA will determine the total anticipated trips in a 24-hour
period and perform a capacity analysis to determine impacts to
existing traffic. We will also determine if the proposed parking
plan and site circulation meet Village standards.
